Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture, Tashkent
The Indian Cultural Centre in Uzbekistan was established in 1995 and was renamed as the Lal Bahadur Shastri Centre for Indian Culture (LBSCIC) in March 2005.
The Centre organizes major cultural programmes in Tashkent on the occasion of Independence Day and Republic Day of India. As part of outreach activities, it regularly sends Kathak dancers and Yoga students to different provinces (viloyats) to conduct joint cultural events.

- Distribution of Hindi books to institutions
- Nomination of 2 students annually for Hindi training at the Central Institute of Hindi, Agra
Scholarships and Library
- All slots under Government of India Scholarship Schemes administered by ICCR are utilized annually
- A well-equipped library with books in English, Hindi, Russian, and Uzbek
- Reading room with access to major Indian newspapers and magazines
Collaborations and Outreach
- Active engagement with the Council of Friendship Societies of Uzbekistan
- Establishment of an ‘India Chair’ at the University of World Economy and Diplomacy, Tashkent by ICCR
